During the race though, one of the team’s drivers, Robert Kubica, met an accident which is dubbed the most horrific high speed crash in recent memory. Fortunately, the Polish driver only suffered minor concussions and a sprained ankle. Less than 24 hours after the crash, Kubica was released from the hospital and even drove by himself on his BMW X5.

All BMW X5s manufactured and assembled at Spartanburg, South Carolina
Before it stopped production in 2006, the BMW E53 X5 crossover auto was developed with elements and designs like the Land Rover. The first generation X5 was based mostly on the E53 platform and was available in 5 to six speed transmissions both in manual and automated. The peak of the BMW X5 varies depending on the model year and the engine type. A 2000 - 2003 model of the X5 with a V8 engine is marginally smaller than a 2004 - 2006 model of the X5 with the same V8 engine. The height difference is more obvious with a 2001 - 2003 BMW X5 model with an inline-six engine and a 2004 - 2006 X5 model which is kind of two inches taller than its prior opposite number.
The X5 is a front engine, four wheel drive mid-size crossover five door SUV. It uses the all wheel drive feature and is available in different sorts of engines like inline-six, V8, and diesel power trains. Though the X5 has the frame of a van, its performance on the road can definitely match a smaller SUV.
The second generation BMW X5 based primarily on the E70 platform was released in November of 2006. It turned into a replacement to the BMW E53 platform which was used by the previous X5 generation. The second generation X5 is available in three types of engines ; a 3.0 litre 260 hp inline-six engine, a 3.0 liter 235 hp diesel inline-six engine, and a 4.8 liter350 horsepower V8 engine. The second generation X5 makes use of a 6 speed automatic transmission and it also holds a close similarity with the BMW X6 since they have the same platform and they are being made and assembled in the same area.

Bmw’s Pretax Profit to Ascend This Year
The Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) announced last Wednesday that its pretax profit this year was set to rise above the 4.12 billion euros it posted in 2006 on the sentiment that its car sales would also rise.
Norbert Reithofer, the chief executive of BMW, said the company planned “to beat the record pretax profit achieved in 2006.” Last week, the automaker reported a 26 percent increase in 2006 pretax profit - from 3.29 billion euros ($4.35 billion) in 2005 to 4.12 billion euros ($5.45 billion) in 2006.
BMW also reported 28 percent increase in net profit to 2.87 billion euros ($3.79 billion). The profit boost was attributed to the one-time gain from the sale of a stake in Rolls-Royce PLC, the British aircraft engine maker.
